Checkers fly for Snyder, Thompson, Baker, Richards & Ware at Eagle Raceway

Saturday evening at Eagle Raceway was Junior Fan Club Night presented by Colby Ridge and Great Clips. The crowd was probably the largest this season in anticipation of the kids car rides at intermission, but the gorgeous weather was a bonus. Always a favorite of the younger fans, there were smiles on every face!
No serious incidents marred the preliminary action.
The initial circuit of the Coors Light IMCA SportMod feature saw a spin by the 7B of Brandon Baker in turns 1 and 2 and collected the 33B of Breanna Pfansteil, causing a complete restart. The 25! Of Trevor Baker led the first official lap with Shawn Harker’s 40, the 88F of Rich Flock and Braydon Latture’s 14 close behind. Arie Schouten vaulted his 99RE to second on lap 3 as Jeremy Down put the 4D into fourth. Matt Andrews jumped the 22 up to third the next lap. Cole Wayman moved his # 18W to fourth with 10 to go. With 3 go to Schouten passed Baker for the lead momentarily but Baker got back past to take the win with Schouten second, Andrews third and Wayman fourth.
Lap 1 of the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock A also saw a spin, this time by the 2C of Dave Carter. Brad Schreiner’s 10, the 7T of Tanner Dowty, Nick Beckman in the22 and Brett Saathoff’s 11B were the top 4 after lap 1. Mike Hansen put the 94 into third on lap 2 as Saathoff held onto fourth. Beckman got back past Saathoff the next time around. Hansen moved to second 3 laps later. Jeff Ware cracked the top 4 after another circuit and moved to third the next lap and second after 1 more lap was in the books. Hansen moved back to third 2 laps later. Ware moved to the lead with 6 to go as Jeff Watts put the 66 into fourth. The final top 4 were Ware, Schreiner, Hansen, and Watts.
It took until lap 2 of the Nebraska Lottery IMCA Modified A Feature before a caution came out when Terry Hurt looped the 24T on the front stretch. As the lineup reverted to the first completed lap Nate Thompson’s 3T, the 86 of Justin Wulf, Aaron Pella in the 3A and the 7 of Bob Ruisinger were out front. Johnny Saathoff put the 96J into fourth on lap 3. The yellow lights came on in the corners again the next lap for another spun car. Chad Andersen took advantage of the restart to put the 8C into fourth but lost the spot back to Saathoff the next lap. Jordan Grabouski jumped the 30 up to third 3 laps later. The action slowed again with 8 to go for debris. Anthony Roth moved to fourth on the restart in the 60IV. Grabouski advanced to third with 5 laps left. Andersen spun in 1 & 2 with 2 to go for another caution. His car stopped on the front stretch on the restart to slow the action yet again. Shane Hiatt vaulted up to third on the restart with Roth clinging to fourth. That made the top 4 Thompson, Grabouski, Hiatt and Roth.
The first few laps of the ATV Motorsports IMCA Sport Compact main event went smoothly with the 66 of Steve Phillips, Dan Markham’s 6, the 23B of Tyler Masek and James Messenbrink’s 33M the top 4. Dillon Richards put the 19 into third on lap 3 with Messenbrink remaining in fourth. Markham took the lead the next time around with Richards following him into second the following lap. Evan Hrabik’s 19X hit the implement tire in turn 1 the next circuit for a caution. Richards took over the lead on the restart. Devin Bruce put the 52D into fourth after another lap and advanced to third the following circuit. RJ Maas put the 88K into fourth the next lap. The top 4 remained unchanged to the end with the top 4 being Richards, Markham, Bruce, and Maas.
The last race of the evening was the A Main for the Duros Dent Works IMCA Racesaver Sprint cars. Tim Hilfiker’s 20 led the first lap with Doug Lovegrove in the 55, the 4L of Mike Houseman Jr. and Jay Russell in the 76 in hot pursuit. Lovegrove took the lead on lap 7. Houseman Jr. looped it in turn 2 on lap 10 for a caution. That moved Russell in third and the 14G of Gene Ackland fourth. 1 lap after the restart Adam Gullion passed Ackland to put the 91 into fourth. Tyler Drueke cracked the top 4 2 circuits later in the #12 and moved to third the next lap. Gullion again snagged the fourth spot with 9 to go. Shayle Helget moved the 03 to fourth the next lap but the red flag flew after Mike Boston spun the 51 in turn 2 and collected Hilfiker. At that time, it was Lovegrove, Drueke, Gullion and Helget. Drueke used the high line on the restart to pass Lovegrove as Jason Danley put the 4X into fourth. Helget regained the position with 5 to go making the final top 4 Drueke, Lovegrove, Gullion and Helget.
Remember that there are only weeks remaining in the regular season. Next weekend is Fast Cars & Bright Stars presented by Rotellas and Great Clips. Front gates open at 5:00 with hot laps at 5:30 and racing at 6:30. Front gate adult admission is $12, youths 6-12 are just $5 and children 5 and under are free. All 5 classes will be competing including the Duros Dent Works Sprint Cars, Nebraska Lottery Modifieds, Coors Light SportMods, Valentino’s Hobby Stocks & ATV Motor Sports Sport Compacts.
Pit gates open at 3:30 with pit passes costing $30.
