Saturday saw a large crowd of fans show up for Junior Fan Club Night, presented by Moms Popcorn and Avid Realty at Eagle Raceway. A beautiful but breezy day provided great racing with 3 and sometimes 4-wide racing during the heats, with the track being in great shape for the features.

There were no serious incidents in the preliminary action.

The 5B of Matt Boucher was first back to the flag stand on lap 1 of the A1 Iron IMCA Stock Car feature, followed by Tyler Barribo in the 14JR, Jeff Ward’s 83 and the 63 of Mike Nichols. Ware moved up to second on lap 3 with Jordan Grabouski taking fourth in the 30. Grabouski advanced to third the next circuit before passing Ware for second on lap 8 with Nichols also getting past Ware for third. Barribo stopped at the top of turn 4 the next time around for a caution. Nate Thompson put the 3T into fourth on lap 10. Grabouski snagged the lead with 9 to go with Nichols taking second, Boucher hanging onto third and Kyle Vanover putting the 19 into fourth. Vanover passed Boucher with 5 to go. The top 4 remained unchanged to the end with Grabouski winning, Nichols second, Vanover third and Boucher fourth.

The initial circuit of the Avid Realty IMCA Sportmod A saw Dana Deeke’s 36, the 6A of Adam Armstrong, Steve Devitt in the 11X and Derek Hall’s 44D the top four. Trevor Noonan passed Hall and Devitt on lap 3 to put the 66 into third, moving Devitt to fourth. Tyler Nerud in the 5T passed Devitt for fourth with 10 to go. Armstrong grabbed the lead with 7 circuits remaining as Nerud moved to third and Matt Andrews put the 22 into fourth. A debris caution came with 4 to go, slowing the action. With 3 to go Devitt spun in turn 2 collecting another racer but kept the 11X going and retaking his spot after the caution. Nerud and Andrews advanced to second and third on the restart with Deeke getting back to fourth. The final change in the top 4 came the next time around as Hall passed Deeke. That made the top 4 Armstrong, Nerud, Andrews and Hall.

Jeff Watts in the 66, Neil Pella’s 3N, Troy Dowty’s 17T and Ryan Gilland’s 46 headed the pack after lap 1 of the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock A Main. Gilland passed Dowty for third on lap 2 and moved up to second on lap 4 with Mike Hansen putting the 94 into fourth. Hansen got past Gilland with 11 laps to go, moving to second the next time around. Gilland took over the lead with 6 to go with Hansen following him into second with 4 to go, putting Watts third and Pella fourth. Dillon Richards jumped up to third in the 24R. Brad Schreiner put the #10 into fourth the next time around but lost the spot back to Pella on the last lap. Gilland won the race with Hansen second, Richards third and Pella fourth.

The first lap of the Nebraska Lottery IMCA Modifieds saw Terry Hurt’s 24T out front, Norm Ziegenbein second in the 1Z, Cade Richards’ 1R third and Jaxxon Saathoff fourth in the 96. Ziegenbein took the lead on lap 2. Saathoff moved to third the next lap. Shawn Harker looped the #40 in turns 3 and 4 after 1 more lap for a caution. Richards got past Saathoff for third on the restart. Jordan Grabouski passed both Richards and Saathoff on lap 5, putting the #30 in third and leaped up to the lead the next circuit. Saathoff got back to third the next time with Richards taking second momentarily but lost the spot back to Saathoff before getting back to the flag stand. A debris caution the next circuit slowed the action after Ziegenbein smacked the wall, losing his spoiler. That caused Ziegenbein to be sent to the rear and put Clint Homan into fourth place. Homan moved to third with 10 laps left. 2 laps later Ryan Sample spun the 97 in turn 4. No changes occurred in the top 4 to the finish with Grabouski snagging the win, Homan second Saathoff third and Richards fourth.

Shayle Bade was in the lead in her 03 after the first circuit of the Twin Rivers IMCA Racesaver finale with Mike Boston’s 51 second, Nate Weiler’s 4W third and Alex Davenport in the 25A fourth. Brandon Horton passed Davenport the next lap to put the 1B into fourth. Stu Snyder took his #5 past Horton for fourth the following circuit before taking third the next time around. Snyder continued his advance 2 laps later when he moved to second and eventually took over the lead after another 2 circuits. Lap 12 saw Boston pass Bade for second. Trevor Grossenbacher cracked the top 4 the following lap in his 35 and moved to third after another circuit. Clint Benson’s 100 came to a halt on the back stretch with 8 to go. A final caution came with 3 circuits left as Gunnar Pike’s 25 came to a halt in turn 4. Snyder took the checkers in first, Boston second, Grossenbacher third and Bade rounded out the top 4.

Just after the final checkers flew the rain began. Due to the rain and the mass exodus from the pits that it caused no interviews with the winners were obtained.

Next weekend is the Armed Forces Salute, presented by Empire Fence and Twin Rivers. Adult admission is $15, Youths 6-12 are only $5 and children 5 and under receive free admission. The Twin Rivers Boot Camp Challenge will be held at intermission.

All 5 classes will be in competition including the Twin Rivers Sprint Cars, Nebraska Lottery Modifieds, Avid Realty SportMods, Valentino’s Hobby Stocks & A1 Iron Stock Cars.

 

Front gates open at 5:15 with adult admission being $15.

Pit gates open at 3:30 with pit passes costing $30. Hot laps begin at 5:30.
