Ware, Grossenbacher, Roth, Richards & Armstrong are victorious at Eagle Raceway’s School’s Out for Summer event

News

Mother Nature took a shot at cancelling School’s Out for Summer, presented by Southeast Community College and Nebraska Lottery Saturday with early morning rains, but failed. A beautiful afternoon and evening allowed the good-sized crowd to enjoy 13 heats, 4 preliminary features and 5 A Mains, featuring 127 cars at Eagle Raceway.

There were no serious incidents in the preliminary racing.

Jordan Grabouski’s #30 suffered a flat tire on the first attempt at a start in the A1 Iron IMCA Stock Car main event. During the caution, he headed to the pits to have it replaced and rejoined the field at the rear. The first official lap saw Matt Boucher’s 5B, the 83 of Jeff Ware, Marty Steinbach’s 5ELI and the 1R of Cade Richards the first 4 back to the flag stand. Ware grabbed the lead on lap 5 with Richards moving up to third. Boucher regained the lead the next time around but both Ware and Richards passed him 3 laps later. Nate Thompson looped the 3T on the front stretch the next circuit to bring out the caution flag. Grabouski vaulted up to third with 9 to go as Boucher fell to fourth. 2 laps later Kyle Vanover got past Boucher in his #19 to make the final top 4 Ware, Richards, Grabouski and Vanover.

Next up were the Avid Realty IMCA Sportmods. Dion Kovar’s 18 spun in turn 2 on the first lap to cause a complete restart. Jacob Swanson put the 31S out front on the restart, followed by Shawn Pospisil in the 6SJ, Adam Armstrong’s 6A and the 11X of Steve Devitt. Devitt passed both Pospisil and Armstrong for second on lap 2. Joe Feyen’s 25X spun in turn 1 the next circuit. Armstrong jumped up to second on the restart and advanced to first on lap 7 with Drake Bohlmeyer cracking the top 4 in the 24. One of the tires guarding the infield got pushed out onto the track and the yellow lights came on in the corners. Matt Andrews passed Bohlmeyer one lap after the restart to take 4th in the 22. Bohlmeyer regained fourth with 3 to go as Andrews made a huge move to snag second. Andrews moved up to second with 3 to go as Bohlmeyer retook fourth. The final top 4 were Armstrong, Andrews, Swanson and Bohlmeyer.

The A Feature for the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stocks saw Jared Jackson’s 98, the 7T of Tanner Dowty, Khrysta Stransky in the 39 and Don Hall Jr’s 92 out front. Hall passed Stransky for third on lap 2 with Dillon Richards also getting past her to put the 24R into fourth place. Richards moved past Hall Jr. the next time around for third. Both Richards and Hall Jr. moved up 2 spots the following circuit for first and second, with Dowty third and Mike Hansen’s 94 fourth. Ryan Gilland took over the fourth spot in the 46 on lap 7. Hansen jumped up to second with 7 to go as 46 moved up to third and Hall hung onto fourth. Neil Pella got around Hall for fourth in the 3N with 3 to go but ended up losing the spot to Dave Carter’s 2C, making the top 4 Richards, Hansen, Gilland and Carter.

The Nebraska Lottery IMCA Modifieds then took to the high banks for their A. A 3-car pileup in turn 1, including the 6S of Terry Richards, Reed Payne’s 12 and the 3J of Jeremy Baker stopped the action before it could begin. Anthony Roth put the 60IV out front of the first official lap with Shawn Harker’s 40, the 8C of Dustin Andersen and Mike Densberger’s 81 close behind. Densberger advanced to third on lap 2 and moved up to second with 8 laps left as Bob Zoubek put the 5S into fourth. John Saathoff made the final change in the top 4 with 5 circuits left, putting the 96J into fourth. Roth won, Densberger was second, Zoubek third and Saathoff fourth.

Lastly, the Twin Rivers IMCA Racesaver Sprints rolled out for their A Feature. Mike Houseman led lap 1 in the 4L with Brandon Horton second in the 1B, Doug Lovegrove’s 55 third with Josh Riggins’ 14J fourth. Riggins moved up to third on lap 2. Trevor Grossenbacher passed Lovegrove with 17 circuits left to snag fourth. Riggins vaulted up to second the following lap. 2 circuits later Grossenbacher advanced to third. Gene Ackland looped the 14G in turn 3 the next lap for a caution. Grossenbacher moved to the lead on the restart. Riggins stopped in turn 4 with 6 to go. Stu Snyder put the #5 into fourth on the restart. Joey Danley took fourth with four laps left as Snyder moved up to third. Ackland stopped on the front stretch for another caution with 3 laps left. Snyder took the second spot with 2 circuits remaining to make the final top 4 Grossenbacher, Snyder, Houseman Jr. and Danley.

Next Saturday at Eagle Raceway Charger Chassis and Empire Fence present The American Dream Night. There will be purse money added for the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stocks and the A1 Iron IMCA Stock Cars.

All 5 classes will be in competition including the Twin Rivers Sprint Cars, Nebraska Lottery Modifieds, Avid Realty SportMods, Valentino’s Hobby Stocks & A1 Iron Stock Cars.

Front gates open at 5:15 with adult admission being $15.

Pit gates open at 3:30 with pit passes costing $30. Hot laps begin at 5:30.
