Wayman, Lovegrove, Ware, Harrington & Saathoff are victorious at Eagle Raceway’s Jr Fan Club Salute

Another hot July day meant that it was time for racing at Eagle Raceway Saturday evening as Colby Ridge presented Junior Fan Club Night. Fans got to see
In preliminary action there were 2 serious incidents, both in Duros Dent Works Racesaver IMCA Sprints. In heat #2 Rich Cerveny’s 28 flipped in turn 2. Turn 2 also was the site of the other incident as Dan Neckolite rolled the 10D. Neither driver was seriously injured.
Rich Flock’s 88F led lap #1 of the Coors Light IMCA Sportmod A Feature. Hunter Weber grabbed second on lap 2 in the 99W with Gary Saathoff’s 96 moving to third the next time around and Steffen Oaks putting the 17X into fourth. Cole Wayman cracked the top 4 the next time around in the 18. Saathoff advanced to second the next lap and took over the top spot after another circuit. The next time around saw the 26 of AJ Oaks loop it in turn 2 to bring out a caution. Wayman moved to the lead on the restart, moving Saathoff to second and Weber to third. Steffen Oaks again took the fourth spot the next time around and moved to third after 5 more laps were in the books. Arie Schouten put the 99RE into fourth after another lap and moved to third the next time around, putting Weber into fourth. Adam Vrbka passed Weber with 2 to go in his 7V making the final top 4 Wayman, Saathoff, Schouten and Vrbka.
Brad Schreiner looped the 10 in turns 1 and 2 at the start of the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock main event, causing a complete restart. Khrysta Stransky’s 39, the 13T of Tyler Jackson, Jeff Watts in the 66 and Chantel Bade’s 02 were the top 4 when a lap was officially in the books. Watts took the lead on lap 2 with Jackson second, the 85 of Albert Kiihne third and Stransky fourth. The next lap saw a debris caution. Nick Beckman used the restart to put the 22 into fourth but lost the spot to Jeff Ware in the 83 on lap 5. Ware moved to third on lap 8, took over the second spot after 2 more laps and moved to the lead with another 2 laps in the books. Watt’s got past Ware 2 circuits later but gave the spot back the next time around. The top 4 remained unchanged to the end with Ware, Watts, Jackson and Kiihne.
The finale for the Nebraska Lottery IMCA Modifieds saw lap 1 led by Aaron Pella’s 3A followed by Bob Zoubek’s 5S, the 96J of Johnny Saathoff and Jaxon Saathoff in the 96. Jaxon Saathoff pass his father on lap 6 for third and advanced to second 2 laps later. Anthony Roth put the 60IV into fourth on lap 10 but was put back when Kyle Owen spun the 10K in turn 2. Johnny Saathoff moved back to third on lap 11 with Roth again taking fourth. Roth passed Johnny Saathoff the next lap. Mike Densberger put the 81 into fourth with 6 to go as Jaxon Saathoff moved to the lead. Johnny Saathoff got back into fourth with 3 to go. Roth moved up to second the next lap and with Jordan Grabouski putting the 30 into fourth on the final lap making the top 4 Jaxon Saathoff, Roth, Pella and Grabouski.
The ATV Motorsports IMCA Sport Compact A Main saw a huge pileup on lap 1 as the field came to the flag stand, whittling the field to just 10 cars. With so few cars remaining the number of laps was cut from 15 to 10. The first official lap was led by the 66 of Steve Phillips with Ray Harrington’s 70, the 35 of Brian Cronin and RJ Maas in the 88K rounding out the top 4. Maas moved up to third with 6 to go. Harrington took over the top spot the next lap. There were 3 circuits remaining when Maas moved up to second. Cronin was hit by another competitor with 2 to go sending him hard into the turn 4 wall and bringing out the yellow flag. Cronin was towed to the pits. That moved the 13J of Josh Young into fourth. Young took advantage of the restart to advance to fourth. That made the top 4 Harrington, Phillips, Young and Maas.
The Duros Dent Works Racesaver IMCA A Feature’s first circuit saw Brandon Horton out front in the 1B followed by Doug Lovegrove’s 55, the 25 of Gunnar Pike and Chase Weiler’s 0. Neil Nickolite put the 12N into fourth on lap 2 as Lovegrove took over the lead. Nickolite moved up to third the next lap, putting Pike back to fourth. Trevor Grossenbacher’s 95 spun to the infield on lap 9 for a slowing of the action. Jason Danley passed Pike on the restart, putting the 4X into fourth. Danley moved up to third the next lap. Pike again took over fourth after another circuit. Adam Gullion’s #91 slowed on lap 14 with a flat right front tire. He headed to the pits for a replacement and rejoined the field. Shayle Bade looped the 03 in turns 1 & 2 with 8 to go and collected the 14J of Josh Riggins. Danley advanced to second with 6 to go. 2 laps later Pike moved to third. The final change in the top 4 came when Joey Danley put the 14 into fourth, making the top 4 Lovegrove, Jason Danley, Pike and Joey Danley.
Next weekend is Uncle Sam Slam night presented by Duros Dent Works, Racesaver and Budweiser. Front gates open at 5:00 with hot laps at 5:30 and racing at 6:30. Front gate adult admission is $12, youths 6-12 are just $5 and children 5 and under are free. All 5 classes will be competing including the Duros Dent Works Sprint Cars, Nebraska Lottery Modifieds, Coors Light SportMods, Valentino’s Hobby Stocks & ATV Motor Sports Sport Compacts.
Pit gates open at 3:30 with pit passes costing $30.
