2017 RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Nationals Format
Friday (Day 1):
All drivers draw a number 1-200 at driver check-in which will determine their starting position for their heat race. (Lowest numbers to the front, highest numbers to the back). The 1st place finisher of each heat race will redraw in front of the flag stand at intermission. The Remainder of the A feature is lined up straight up from heats and/or “B” feature depending on the amount of cars.
If there are 11 or more heat races (which is most likely), transfers will be as follows:
1st place to the A Feature
2nd place to the B Feature
3rd place to the C Feature
4th place to the D Feature
5th place to the E Feature
6th place to the F Feature
7th place to the G Feature
8th place to the H Feature
9th place to the I Feature
(All Transfers to the B-I Features will be lined up in the Feature that they transferred to according to the number of positions gained or positions lost in their heat race, then the tie breaker in their Passing Points will be their original nights pill draw. The top X from each qualifying feature will transfer to the next qualifying feature (transfers from qualifying features get lined up in the next feature straight up by finish position).
We will do our best to only have 7-9 cars in each heat race depending on the number of cars entered in the event. The top nine in Friday’s A Feature will Automatically Qualify for the Main Event on Sunday and make up the first 3 rows of cars in the three wide start.
Saturday (Day 2):
The second day will be an inverted style of pill draw. All drivers will draw a pill either between #1-100 or #101-200 at driver check-in which will determine their starting position for their heat race. If a driver drew a number 1-100 on Friday they will have to draw 101-200 on Saturday and vice-versa. If a driver did not draw on Friday, they will draw a number out of 1-200 (Lowest numbers to the front, highest numbers to the back). The 1st place finisher of each heat race will redraw in front of the flag stand at intermission. The Remainder of the A feature is lined up straight up from heats and/or “B” feature depending on the amount of cars.
If there are over 11 heat races which is most likely, transfers will be as follows:
1st place to the A Feature
2nd place to the B Feature
3rd place to the C Feature
4th place to the D Feature
5th place to the E Feature
6th place to the F Feature
7th place to the G Feature
8th place to the H Feature
9th place to the I Feature
(All Transfers to the B-I Features will be lined up in the Feature that they transferred to according to the number of positions gained or positions lost in their heat race, then the tie breaker in Passing Points will be their TOTAL NATIONALS EVENT POINTS. The top X from each qualifying feature will transfer to the next qualifying feature (transfers from qualifying features get lined up in the next feature straight up by finish position).

POINTS CLARIFICATION:
PASSING POINTS TO DETERMINE QUALIFYING FEATURE LINEUPS:
These points are only to determine your position for your qualifying feature that you transferred to on Friday and Saturday. You transfer to a specific qualifying race (B Feature-J Feature) according to your finishing position in your heat race. However, that qualifying feature that you transferred to will be lined up according to that day’s heat race passing points. “Negative” passing points DO NOT go into your Total Nationals Event Points. They simply help determine your starting position for your Qualifying feature. “Positive” passing points will be counted into your Total Nationals Event Points.
1 point is awarded for every position you gain from your scheduled starting position. 1 point is deducted for every position you fall back from your scheduled starting position (negative points). If you neither gain, nor lose positions you will remain at 0 points. Ties in heat race passing points will be broken by pill number on Friday. Ties in heat race passing points on Saturday will be broken by Total Nationals Event Points.
TOTAL NATIONALS EVENT POINTS:
These points are to determine your starting position for your last chance qualifying feature on Sunday, they are also used as a tiebreaker for heat race passing points on Saturday.
Ways to accumulate Total Nationals Event Points:
-Drivers will accumulate points from their Qualifying feature finishing positions from both Friday and Saturday.
-They will accumulate points for their heat race finishing positions on Friday and Saturday.
-They will accumulate points for how many cars they pass in both heat races and features on both Friday and Saturday.
Qualifying Feature finishing position points: The 10th place car (First Non-Qualifying car) in the A Features Friday and Saturday will receive a specified number of points depending on the amount of cars entered in the event that night, with each subsequent car receiving one point less.
Heat Race finishing position points: The 1st place car will receive 10 points, with all subsequent cars receiving one point less.
Heat Race and Qualifying Feature passing points: All cars will receive one point per position gained. If a car loses positions or ends in the same position they started in, they will receive 0 points for passing. You will not get negative points added to your Total Nationals Event Points.
